Meet Our Teachers & Staff

BPN has set their own requirements for their teachers that are double that of the state requirements. Our educational requirements are more than Bakersfield College as wellas the local Head Start programs. The state licensing board requires preschool teachers to have a minimum of 12 units. Our school requires 24, plus you must take one continuing education class per year or attend a child development conference. We believe education for teachers never stops and should grow and change as our families and communities evolve.

The BPN teachers' commitment to the school and love of children makes them a special part of the program.

Our Teachers:

Cindy Villa -- Miss Cindy has been with the Co-op since 1991. The first year she was a teacher and then became director the following year. She has received her Children's Teacher Permit and Site Supervisor Permit from Bakersfield College. She has completed her course work through Bakersfield College for these programs as well as follow-up and continuing education courses from Cerro Coso college. Miss Cindy believes in the co-op philosophy of parent involvement with their child's education. If children feel mom and dad think school is a fun place to hang out, they will soon follow with the same joy and anticipation of each school day. Miss Cindy teaches Pre K Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

Amber Level-Ellis - Miss Amber came to the school in 2005. As a parent, she served on the board, worked as an aide, and then joined the teaching staff. She received her education in Child Development from Bakersfield College, Taft College and California State University, Bakersfield. Miss Amber has been working with children for eight years. The little ones respond very well to her love and expectations that she has for each of them. Miss Amber teaches 2-3 year old classes on Tuesday/Thursday and  . Wednesday/Friday.

Nichole Ferguson -  Miss Nichole is a BPN Alumni, child development units and has served on the board before joining our staff.
