Helping Children Grow Through Play

At Bakersfield Parent Nursery, our goal is to support each child’s growth through a warm, play-based preschool experience. We help children build confidence, independence, creativity, social skills, and emotional development at their own pace.

Our preschool learning goals are to help children:

Grow and develop based on their own needs, interests, and developmental pace
Express creativity through art, play, imagination, and hands-on materials
Build independence by solving problems, making choices, and doing things for themselves
Enjoy the preschool experience and feel more confident entering elementary school and new social settings
Develop trusting relationships with teachers and adults outside of their family
Learn safe, respectful behavior in a thoughtful and nurturing environment
Explore the world, different cultures, and the people around them
Practice handling emotions in healthy and constructive ways

Helping Parents Be Part of the Preschool Experience

At Bakersfield Parent Nursery, parents are an important part of our cooperative preschool community. Our parent-participation model gives families a first-hand view of their child’s early learning experience while helping parents better understand child development, behavior, and social-emotional growth.

Our goals for parents are to help families:

Share in their child’s first school experience away from home
Better understand their child’s world, behavior, growth, and development
Build a positive child-adult relationship through teacher guidance and shared experiences with other parents
Learn helpful ways to support children through hands-on classroom participation and parent education
Develop deeper relationships with other families, teachers, and the school community
Grow in understanding of the needs of children, adults, and the group as a whole

For the school

To provide the best preschool experience at the lowest possible cost.
To utilize the diverse interests and skills of all the parents.
To accept, without discrimination, families who wish to join our community that are willing to participate wholeheartedly in school discussions, presenting thoughts openly, and working toward consensus decisions.
To maintain the highest possible standards for the preschool by sharing our ideas to raise the standards of parent-participation preschools.
